Curve of Spee and Second Mandibular Premolar Agenesis—Present Knowledge and Future Perspectives

چکیده
Background: We investigated the relationship between mandibular Curve of Spee (COS) and a persisting primary second molar (ppM2) due to an agenesis premolar, using digital software technique. Methods: Digital dental casts were obtained from 200 patients at Department Orthodontics in Innsbruck Vienna, Austria. Patients (age-, gender-, malocclusion-matched) equally divided into two groups (n = 100) according existence ppM2. COS depth, overjet, overbite, angle-classification measured digitally OnyxCeph3TM (version 3.2.147) software. ANOVA Kruskal–Wallis tests used analyze relationships. For statistical analyses, p < 0.05 was considered as statistically significant, 0.01 highly significant. Results visualized with box plots bar charts. Results: The deepest present Furthermore, positive correlation shown depth angle-class II, age, well overbite. No gender differences could be observed. Conclusions: In our study population dependent on whether there is ppM2 premolar or not, malocclusion sagittal direction.

Agenesis of Mandibular Second Premolar
Tooth agenesis is the most common of all dental developmental disorders. The mandibular second premolars are the teeth most commonly found missing (2.2 to 4.1%) after the third molars. There are more studies on tooth agenesis than the other malformations but yet they are limited. This article reviews the studies related to agenesis of mandibular second premolars and the underlying mechanisms be...
متن کاملMolarization of Mandibular Second Premolar
Macrodontia (megadontia, megalodontia, mac rodontism) is a rare shape anomaly that has been used to describe dental gigantism. Mandibular second premolars show an elevated variability of crown morphology, as are its eruptive potential and final position in the dental arch. To date, only eight cases of isolated macrodontia of second premolars have been reported in the literature. This case repor...
متن کاملMandibular Second Premolar with Four Canals
A mandibular second premolar with four canals is an interesting example of anatomic variations. This report describes a case of a mandibular second premolar with three roots and four canals (one mesiobuccal, two distobuccal and one lingual). The canals were prepared using K-files and irrigated with NaOCl (5.25%) and normal saline as the final irrigant. The canals were filled laterally with gutt...
متن کاملLate development of a mandibular second premolar
In this report, we present the case of a girl with delayed odontogenesis of a lower second premolar for which she was followed up for 8.5 years. Congenital absence of permanent mandibular second premolars was observed at the initial radiographic examination at 8 years and 1 month. One year later, during the treatment period, an unexpected odontogenesis of a right second premolar was diagnosed o...
متن کاملMandibular second premolar with three canals.
Mandibular premolars often show aberrant anatomy varying from one to three canals. The incidence of occurrence of 3 canals has been recorded to be 0.46 - 0.5 %. We report a case of mandibular second premolar with 3 canals, which was initially diagnosed radiographically by shift cone technique and confirmed by clinical examination. The tooth was successfully obturated and restored. It remained a...
